November 6th - 12th, 2018| The Harmony Hotel | Nosara Costa Rica
LIZA LUBELL (of Peartree Flowers) along with SARAH BLASI (of Selva Floral) will take you on a tropical floral journey, aquatinting you with the local Costa Rican bounty. Students will explore an array of floral arranging styles as well as forage for their own jungle materials. Liza + Sarah will teach techniques and foster creative freedom, guiding participants towards their own aesthetic. Participants will also have the opportunity to partake in a massive floral installation for our own jungle party.
There is nothing quite like yoga with EMILY SHAPIRO. Her energy, grace, excitement, and music choices are truly intoxicating. Emily's yoga classes are an integral part of this workshop. Her ability to foster each individual's unique movements and relate them to our individuality as creative beings comes through with each class. We can't wait for you to discover and fall in love with her flows.
EMILY AUMILLER (owner and founder of Brooklyn's incomparable Lael Cakes) will be leading participants in a raw dessert class with a gluttonous amount of Costa Rican bounty like cacoa, tropical fruits and delightful spices. We'll explore these ingredients, commingling flavors in elegant ways and creating exquisite presentations. And then we get to eat them!
The Tico-owned Surf School AGUA TIBIA consistently receives glowing reviews from stoked surfers year after year. There's no coming to Nosara without testing the perfect warm waves. We're thrilled AGUA TIBIA will join us again this year to teach us the ways of these intelligent waters. Our retreat offers two lessons, though we highly encourage you to take more.
Artist SCOTT WHIPKEY will lead a bookmaking workshop and a botanical illustration intensive. Participants will make their own journals to capture their Nosara experiences. Everyone will have the opportunity to draw tropical still-lifes, as well as the floral and fruit elements used in the various classes.
Investment includes accommodations, flower arranging lessons, raw dessert classes, botanical illustration workshop, book making class, two surf lessons, yoga each morning, breakfast and lunch each day, welcome dinner, and curated final dinner party (as well gifts and surprises, of course).
If you decide to cancel, you will forfeit your deposit (though we will make exceptions for illness, injury) or you can transfer your spot to someone else. The workshop organizers reserve the right to cancel if less than 7 participants sign up. In this unlikely scenario, you will be refunded in full.
IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS?
Yes, we cap the workshop at 12 people. That way, we can ensure that everyone gets plenty of individual attention and instruction, and the workshop stays small and intimate.
DO I NEED TO HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE VARIOUS MEDIUMS?
Nope – none at all. And if you have a bunch, that’s great too.
Nosara is magic. It truly is. It's not just a beautiful beach, an impressive jungle, bright stars, unforgettable sunsets, sweet people, pipas and avocados. It's much more than the sum of it parts. There's something in the air and it's not just the smell of the molasses paved roads.
The Harmony Hotel is a profound centerpoint in Nosara. This eco-chic hotel provides all the amenities one might crave on vacation without any pretension. "The hotel is situated a stone's throw from a pristine surf break with consistent year-round waves. But it is much more than that. It is a place for community and ideas - an ideal space for contemplation and deep relaxation." We're in alignment with The Harmony Hotel and thrilled they continue to host Pura Vida Peartree.
Workshop leader, LIZA LUBELL of Peartree Flowers, guides floral arranging alongside SARAH BLASI of Portland's Selva Floral. Yogi EMILY SHAPIRO is leading vinyasa and restorative yoga classes. ANDREW DELGADO of Agua Tibia is instructing surf lessons. EMILY AUMILLER of Lael Cakes will be teaching raw desserts. And beloved artist SCOTT WHIPKEY is leading botanical illustration + book making.
